Satan ( The Rejected)
----------------------

The Invisible open enemy of mankind. The problem of all evil. He misguides by whispering suggestions. Indeed his whispers are extremely dangerous. The quran has warned against following his ways which are those against the orders of Allah (God) mentioned in the Quran.

Satan or Shaitan is a term used to describe the followers of Iblis - a Jinn (Genie) who refused to prostrate before Adam and disobeyed Allah (God) and ended up being one of the Unbeleivers and an open enemy to mankind.

Quran [2:208] O ye who believe! Enter into Islam whole-heartedly; and follow not the footsteps of the Shaitan ; for he is to you an avowed enemy.

Quran [4:76] Those who believe, fight in the way of Allah, and those who disbelieve fight in the way of the Shaitan. Fight therefore against the friends of the Shaitan; surely the strategy of the Shaitan is weak.

Ways of the satan to make people astray
------------------------------------------

1. He will take something which is forbidden and present it in a way to make it look like a permissible act.
2. He will make you hurry in good deeds, so that they may be left incomplete.
3. He will make you get confused by creating doubts.
4. He will try to lure you into the beauties of this world in order you forget Allah.
5. He will try to make good acts difficult and bad deeds easy and fruitfull.
6. He will stop you from doing Zikr - Remembrance of Allah (your antivirus)
7. He will create superstition inside you (like lucky/unlucky numbers, clothes, days etc)
8. He will try to make you miss saying "InshAllah" before any commitment.
9. He will try to create hatred amongst kith and kin
10. He will try to make husband & wife quarrel.
11. He will try to reduce your knowledge of Islam
12. He will try to remove shame (haya) in a person.

How to protect oneself from Shaitan
-------------------------------------

The final safe Haven A fortified fortress of knowledge
-------------------------------------------------------

The Messenger of Allah said , “One faqih (an expert in Islamic jurisprudence) is stronger against Shaitan than a thousand aabid(worshipers). Knowledge should be important for the believers in all aspects of life However the importance of knowledge in opposing Shaitan can be well illustrated in the following story Related by Ibn Abass:

‘The shaitans say to Iblis, “Master we delight in the death of a man of knowledge more than we rejoice in that of a man of worship. We are harmed by the man of Knowledge, but not harmed by the man of worship.” ‘Iblis says,“come on, let’s go.”So of they go to a man of worship and tell him they want to ask him a question. Iblis says, “Can your Lord put the world inside an egg?” “The worshipper replies, “I don’t know.”
‘Iblis says to shaitans, “ don’t you see there is disbelief in his answer? ‘Then they go to a man of knowledge, who is joking in his circle of companions and say, “We want to ask you a question.”’He says, “Ask.”Iblis says to him, “ can your Lord put the world inside an egg?” ‘He says, “Yes.” ‘Iblis asks “How?” ‘The man of knowledge says, “His command when he desires a thing is that He says to it, ‘BE!’AND IT IS.” (Quran36:82)

Iblis says to the shaitans, “Don’t you see that the worshiper has no effect beyond himself while this man of knowledge estranges much of the world from me?”’

Actions that will keep you safe
---------------------------------

The weak and ill-hearted have been psychologically captured in the lures of Shaytan. To protect our selves a few recommendations of our pious predecessors should be taken into consideration; which should truthfully be pre requisites in our lives anyway.

1. Regular in five time obligatory prayers and practice on whatever Islamic knowledge is possessed.
2. Recite Ta-awuz (auzu billah) in abundance.
3. Recite Quran daily with Ta-awuz & Tasmiyah (Bismillah).
4. Never have jealousy for anyone else.
5. Never have an evil eye against others.
6. Never Believe or trust those who claim to practice magic.
7. Never be involved in foretelling.
8. Assign full faith and trust in Allah Alone - the Most Magnificent creator, sustainer and protector.

Invocations ( Duas )
---------------------

The scholars have prescribed many invocations. These invocations have been derived from Quran and Ahadith, some of which are for specific occasions. Here are a only a few:

1. Protection from Shaitan

It is narrated by Abu Huraira that the Messenger of Allah said, Whoever says La Ilaha-Illa llah Wahdahu La sharika lahu, Lahul mulk wa Lahul Hamd, wa Huwa ‘Alaa kulli shy-inn Qadeer. 100 times daily will get the reward for freeing 10 captives; he will get 100 blessings, 100 mistakes will be wiped out, it will be a protection for him/her from Shaitan all that day till the night. No one will get a better reward except who did more than that.

2. Al- Mutawazain

Seek refuge on a daily basis by reading Surah Al Falaq & Surah An naas (the two chapters of the holy Quran with the sequential numbers 113 and 114).

3. Fear Loneliness & insomnia

It is narrated by Umar ibn Shu aib through his father from his grandfather that the Messenger of Allah said,When someone is in a state of fear when sleeping he should say: I seek refuge with the whole words of Allah from his anger, His punishment and wickedness of people; and I seek refuge from the pricking of satans, and from their presence; therefore, no harm will hit him.

4. Nightmare

Jabir narrated that the messenger of Allah said, “When someone sees unpleasant dreams, he should spit to his left three times should seek refuge in Allah from the outcast Shaitan. Then he should turn to the other side of his sleep”. (Reported by Muslim,Abu Dawood,Nasaee and Ibn Majah).

5. Matrimonial Relationship

Ibn Abbas narrated that the prophet said,'When one of you comes to his wife he should say Bismillah!…O Allah! Protect us from Shaitan and protect our offspring from him too.' (Bukhari and Muslim)

6. Entering the House

Jabir says, I heard the prophet saying,When a person enters his house and he remembers Allahs name, as well as when he eats, Shaitan says: there is no way that we can inhabit and sleep here or eat at this house . However when he enters the house without remembering Allah, Shaitan says we have a place to live tonight; and if he does not remember the name of Allah at the time of eating, Shaitan says we have tonight a place to stay and food to eat. (Sahih Muslim)

7. Entering the Lavatory

This place is the most inhabited of all the places in the house. Therefore the prophet advised the Muslims to make a Dua before entering the washroom.

It is narrated from Anas that when the Prophet intended to enter it he used to say “In the name of Allah, O Allah I seek refuge from the male and female devils ( Allahumma Inni auzibika minal khubse wal khabais)

A Brief knowledge about Shaitan
---------------------------------

Al-Quran Chapter:15 Al Hijr (The Rocky Tract )

[15:26] We created man from sounding clay, from mud molded into shape;

[15:27] And the Jinn (Genie) race, We had created before, from the fire of a scorching wind.

[15:28] Behold! thy Lord said to the angels: "I am about to create man, from sounding clay from mud molded into shape;

[15:29] "When I have fashioned him (man in due proportion) and breathed into him of My spirit, fall you down in obeisance unto him."

[15:30] So the angels prostrated themselves, all of them together:

[15:31] Not so Iblis : he refused to be among those who prostrated themselves.

[15:32] (Allah) said: "O Iblis! what is your reason for not being among those who prostrated themselves?"

[15:33] (Iblis) said: "I am not one to prostrate myself to man, whom Thou didst create from sounding clay, from mud molded into shape."

Iblis here refused to Obey Allah and was not sorry but happy over his disobedience. He thought it was below his dignity and pride to prostrate before a being he considered inferior to him. Allah would have forgiven Iblis but out of pride he did not even seek repentance.

[15:34] (Allah) said: "Then get thee out from here; for thou art rejected, accursed.

[15:35] "And the Curse shall be on thee till the day of Judgment."

[15:36] (Iblis) said: "O my Lord! give me then respite till the Day the (dead) are raised."

[15:37] (Allah) said: "Respite is granted thee -

[15:38] "Till the Day of the Time Appointed."

Iblis further went and blamed Allah for putting him into wrong ( on the contrary it was the result of his actions )

[15:39] (Iblis) said: "O my Lord! because Thou hast put me in the wrong, I will make (wrong) fair-seeming to them on the earth,
and I will put them all in the wrong,-

[15:40] "Except Thy chosen servants among them."

[15:41] (Allah) said: "This is for me a Straight Path.

[15:42] "For over My servants no authority shalt thou have, except such as put themselves in the wrong and follow thee."

[15:43] And verily, Hell is the promised abode for them all!

[15:44] To it are seven Gates: for each of those Gates is a (special) class (of sinners) assigned.

[15:45] The righteous (will be) amid Gardens and fountains (of clear-flowing water).

[15:46] (Their greeting will be): "Enter ye here in peace and security."

[15:47] And We shall remove from their hearts any lurking sense of injury: (they will be) brothers (joyfully) facing each other on raised couches.

[15:48] There no sense of fatigue shall touch them, nor shall they (ever) be asked to leave.

[15:49] Tell My servants that I am indeed the Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful;

Quran Chapter 7 Al Araf (The Heights) - Iblis States.

[15:17] "Then will I assault them from before them and behind them, from their right and their left: Nor wilt thou find, in most of them, gratitude (for thy mercies)."

One may think why there is a bad way and there is good way. Thus the good way is the way to the Paradise and the bad way leads to hell. There are two forces that exist in the human body. Man is free to choose whichever way he likes. But one is reminded ( not only this but all previous generations) of the consequences if a person choses the wrong path. It may be fascinating and tempting but it will lead a person away from the truth and will put him among the losers.

The Quran is the only book in this world (unchanged, uncorrupted) which has exposed Shaitan and his actions. So please be aware the devil is right here present and misleading.

Shaitan's 1st attack on mankind
---------------------------------

The 1st creation were Adam & Hawwa ( Adam & Eve). Both of them were allowed free access to all but one tree of paradise. Then Satan (Iblis - the genie) whispered suggestions to them both in order to uncover that which was hidden from them of their private parts (before); he said:

"Your Lord did not forbid you this tree save you should become angels or become of the immortals." And he (Satan) swore by Allah to them both (saying): "Verily, I am one of the sincere well-wishers for you both."

So he misled them with deception. Then when they tasted of the tree, that which was hidden from them of their shame (private parts) became manifest to them and they began to stick together the leaves of Paradise over themselves (in order to cover their shame). And their Lord called out to them (saying): "Did I not forbid you that tree and tell you: Verily, Satan is an open enemy unto you?"

They said: "Our Lord! We have wronged ourselves. If You forgive us not, and bestow not upon us Your Mercy, we shall certainly be of the losers." Allah said: "Get down, one of you an enemy to the other (i.e. Adam, Eve, and Satan, etc.). On earth will be a dwelling-place for you and an enjoyment, - for a time." He said: "Therein you shall live, and therein you shall die, and  from it you shall be brought out (i.e., resurrected). Quran 7: 19-25

Allah forgave Adam and Hawwa' and told them "Get ye down all from here; and if, as is sure, there comes to you Guidance from me, whosoever follows My guidance, on them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve."[12] Iblis will try to influence as many of their descendants as he possibly could into sin, so as to be his companions in his final destiny into Hell to be recompensed.

Qur’an has used, the words ‘tribe of Shaitan, hosts of Shaitans, brothers of Shaitans and it informs us that the Shaitans are from both Jinns and humankind. See the verses 7:27, 26:95, 17:27, and 6:112 etc. So there are and have been innumerable number of devils from among Jinns and human beings from day one.

Besides the above, it is possible for a Shaitan from Jinns to tempt and mislead more than one person from human beings even if they are at different places. Shaitan has not to be physically present near a man to allure him. Being a person whose basic constituent of the body is heat energy instead of matter, he can penetrate and infiltrate from a distance in different directions. The Qur’an tells us that he misleads by sending thought waves (Waswasa).

He did not allure Adam by physically sneaking into the heaven from where he had been expelled. There was no question of his approaching near a place where from none other than Allah had debarred him. He allured Adam and Hawwa by sending thought waves. “Then began Satan to whisper suggestions to them bringing openly before their minds all their shame that was hidden from them (before): he said “Your Lord only forbade you this tree lest ye should become angels or such beings as live for ever.” (7:20). We have been warned thus:

“O ye children of Adam! Let not Satan seduce you in the same manner as he got your parents out of the garden stripping them of their raiment to expose their shame: for he and his tribe watch you from a position where ye cannot see them: We made the devil the protecting friends of those without faith.” (7:27)

They are killed when they cross the atmosphere
--------------------------------------------------

They try to steal information from outside the earth’s orbit but are hit by meteorites and killed. What information the survivors manage to acquire is then wrongly related, wording is twisted, misleading and usually out of context.

Quran [67:5] And We have, (from of old), adorned the lowest heaven with Lamps, and We have made such (Lamps) (as) missiles to drive away the Evil Ones, and have prepared for them the Penalty of the Blazing Fire.

Hadith - Qudsi 34
------------------

O son of Adam, so long as you call upon Me and ask of Me, I shall forgive you for what you have done, and I shall not mind. O son of Adam, were your sins to reach the clouds of the sky and were you then to ask forgiveness of Me, I would forgive you. O son of Adam, were you to come to Me with sins nearly as great as the earth and were you then to face Me, ascribing no partner to Me, I would bring you forgiveness nearly as great at it.
