9. Prophet Ishaq (AS)

Ishaac is a prophet in Islam, mentioned in many Places in the Quran. He was the younger son of Ibrahim from his wife Sarah. He was born when they were both old . Angels descended to destroy Sodom gave the gald tidings of Ishaac.

[11:71] And his wife was standing (there), and she laughed: but We gave her glad tidings of Ishaq, and after him, of Ya'qub.

[11:72] She said: "Alas for me! shall I bear a child, seeing I am an old woman, and my husband here is an old man? That would indeed be a wonderful thing!"

[11:73] They said: "Dost thou wonder at Allah's decree? The grace of Allah and His blessings on you, O ye people of the house! for He is indeed worthy of all praise, full of all glory!"

[21:72] And We bestowed on him Ishaq and, as an additional gift, (a grandson), Ya'qub, and We made righteous men of every one (of them).

[21:73] And We made them leaders, guiding (men) by Our Command, and We sent them inspiration to do good deeds, to establish regular prayers, and to practise regular charity; and they constantly served Us (and Us only).

[38:45] And commemorate Our Servants Ibrahim, Ishaq, and Ya'qub, possessors of Power and Vision.

[38:46] Verily We did choose them for a special (purpose), proclaiming the Message of the Hereafter.

[38:47] They were, in our sight, truly, of the company of the Elect and the Good.

legend says that Ishaq grew up and married Rebecca. He had twin sons from them Esau and Jacob. Jacob (also known as Israel) was a chosen prophet and from him preceded the 12 tribes of Israel.

The following verse of the holy quran commands Muslims to declare their faith in Ishaaq :-

[2:136] Say ye: "We believe in Allah, and the revelation given to us, and to Ibrahim, Isma'il, Ishaq, Ya'qub, and the Tribes, and that given to Musa and 'Isa, and that given to (all) Prophets from their Lord: we make no difference between one and another of them: and we bow to Allah (in Islam)."
